Bibliotheca Gerhardina
Rekonstruktion der Gelehrten- und Leihbibliothek Johann Gerhards (1582-1637) und seines Sohnes Johann Ernst Gerhard (1621-1668)
For the first time, a scholarly theological library of the early modern period has been reconstructed in this work. The ‹Bibliotheca Gerhardina‹, established by Johann Gerhard and his son Johann Ernst, contains more than 6,000 bibliographical units and is one of the largest private book collections of the 17th century. The first volume of the set is an edition of the complete handwritten catalogue by J. E. Gerhards. In the second volume, there are bibliographic records for all publications concerned in accordance with modern standards along with their present location. All of the publications in the ‹Bibliotheca Gerhardina‹ have been taken into account, including those which are not listed in the catalogue. Both volumes are linked by an easily understandable numbering system. The indexes of authors/editors, printers, publishers, place of printing and location of publishing company, make this work user-friendly.Erstmals wird mit diesem Werk eine theologische Gelehrtenbibliothek der Frühen Neuzeit rekonstruiert. Die über 6000 bibliographische Einheiten enthaltende ›Bibliotheca Gerhardina‹, die Johann Gerhard und sein Sohn Johann Ernst aufgebaut haben, ist eine der umfangreichsten privaten Büchersammlungen des 17. Jahrhunderts. Sie wird heute in Gotha aufbewahrt. Der erste Teilband bietet die Edition des kompletten handschriftlichen Kataloges aus der Feder J. E. Gerhards. Im zweiten Teilband werden Titelaufnahmen der betreffenden Drucke nach modernen Standards mit Standortnachweisen geboten. Hierbei werden sämtliche Drucke der ›Bibliotheca Gerhardina‹ berücksichtigt, auch solche, die im Katalog nicht verzeichnet sind. Beide Teile sind durch ein überschaubares Numerierungssystem miteinander verklammert. Register (Autoren/Herausgeber u.a., Drucker/Verleger, Druck-/Verlagsorte) erleichtern die Benutzung.
